Trusts, Foundations & Private Wealth
Structure a Dubai single family office with jurisdiction, governance, family entities, staffing and regulatory perimeter coordinated around one family's wealth.
For an internationally mobile family, Dubai can provide an attractive base from which to coordinate investments, operating businesses, property, philanthropy and family governance. A single family office can bring those activities together without turning every family decision into a transaction handled independently by external advisers.
The structure should be designed around the family rather than the label. Some families need an employing and administrative office; others need investment oversight, a holding architecture or a DIFC foundation alongside a lean professional team. The correct Dubai platform depends on what will actually be done in the office.
Investment monitoring, consolidated reporting, governance, accounting coordination, philanthropy and administration can all sit within a family-office model, but the required people and entity arrangements differ.
The project should therefore map functions, assets and decision rights before selecting the licence or jurisdiction.
DIFC's 2023 Family Arrangements Regulations replaced the former Single Family Office Regulations with a broader Family Office regime. The framework can serve one or more families, but providing services to more than one family by way of business can change the DFSA/DNFBP and wider regulatory analysis.
The boundary should be kept clear, particularly where employees interact with external asset managers or make investment decisions. Specialist regulatory advice should be obtained where activities approach a regulated perimeter.
Foundations, trusts, holding companies, operating businesses and personal assets can each play different roles. The family office can provide governance and administration across them without necessarily owning every asset itself.
Succession, tax residence, wills and cross-border reporting should be coordinated with advisers in the jurisdictions where family members and assets are connected.
We map the family, assets, entities, functions, staffing and governance objectives, then compare the appropriate Dubai platform and supporting ownership structures.
Formation, premises, employment, governance, KYC and adviser coordination are implemented around that design. The objective is a family office that reduces complexity for the family rather than creating another layer of it.
